Me

2023

Week 1/2: August 31 - Sep 10

It’s funny that I write for $, because I don’t love being too vulnerable with my words and am a bit lax with my grammar when expressing myself via keyboards. But I guess I’m off the clock for grammar and the sort of writing I do for work isn’t the most vulnerable anyways - it’s pretty straightforward science translation work. Anyways, that’s my qualifier for you lot. I might have some days where I get a bit nostalgic and dreamy, and therefore corny with the letters, but mostly I’ll just provide sketches/photographs with some captions.

Because I'm in the airport with no photos to share just yet, I’ll just write about some rare highlights in this mess of a year. A lot of it involved biking somewhere in the East Bay. I biked to Henry’s in Albany to redo their garden for them every week and then to Club Mallard to play pool (badly) with my friends. I biked to Hidden Cafe/Strawberry Creek park to lie in the sun with Kiki and Marin and watch little toddlers wobble-walk through the grass. I biked to Allie Foraker's to take Maple on a walk, and I biked to the MLK middle school courts to play some middle school-level basketball (badly). I'm going to miss these gardens and hobbies I tended to locally this year, but it's time to push myself elsewhere for a bit. Given the variety of heart issues (family, my own) this year, I’m still feeling very stuck in California mentally. I front a bit like I’m as free as I used to be, but I’m not sure I made the right decision to leave for so long…but we will see how this all pans out. I’m hopeful for me, I want this to be good for me.
